In order to get the toner to release from the paper, I apply a natural solvent to the opposite side of the paper and press it onto the desired surface. I tried transferring the design before it was blown up, also after, but more often then not, I popped the balloon. I am reading Just my Type, by Simon Garfield and I learned that the Apple keyboard was at one point set in Univers, but then changed to VAG Rounded in 2007. Crucial information was not communicated and major user experience issues were noted. When selecting a pick-up location, no details were provided, an address had been listed, but there were no notes indicating where within the parking garage one would find the car, nor was information provided about exiting garage payment. I ran into many issues while renting a car with this program, most of which could have been avoided had proper communication occurred. As it froze, I gradually added more color and eventually added a whole new layer of water on top of the already frozen layer. I believe this technique lead to the pockets of color frozen within, which revealed themselves as it melted. I’ve been cookin’ up this idea where I would write out ‘365’ in sparklers and ignite it at midnight, so I rented a Zipcar and drove to Indiana in the snow to procure the sparklers (dragging my roommate along as usual). However, when I got home I sadly discovered that most were duds. Though I was disappointed that my plan was altered, it speaks to my experiences with this project. I went into each day with an open mind; some days I had an idea, others I had none. I never really knew where I was going to land by the end of the day, but I pushed myself all 365 days to create something and once posted, I was always pleased. It was a very challenging project, but I learned a lot along the way and as I look back at the body of work, I am proud. I have big plans for the year 2014; change and exciting new things lay ahead. Today as I was flipping through my notebook I found a little doodle of woodgrain, (something I jotted down at WMC Fest) so I searched for some images and drew some more woodgrain, but on my route home I began to notice more interesting patters everywhere.
